The 2026/27 Championship brings together three clubs relegated from the Premier League and a group of established second-tier challengers. Three relegated clubs reshape the promotion race

The relegated teams will attract immediate attention, but their Premier League status does not guarantee a quick return. The Championship's schedule, physical demands and short recovery cycles punish unsettled squads.

West Ham have one major point of continuity: captain Jarrod Bowen has committed himself to the promotion campaign. They must, however, replace Mateus Fernandes after his confirmed move to Tottenham.
